Pavaavet - (work in progress)

Pavaavet means in the water in the Tongva language.

The imagery in the mural is an homage to the melanated origins of surfing and wave riding around the world. It is also a celebration of Venice’s surfing culture/community and honors the past, present, and future BIPOC wave riders. This mural is dedicated to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color that have called Venice home for generations.
